My appointment was truly wonderful. She genuinely listens, which is so rare nowadays. It's refreshing to find someone who cares and takes the time to understand rather than rushing to prescribe something that might not help or could even make things worse. I was almost ready to give up, but a good friend recommended her, and I’m so grateful I decided to give her a try. Thank you so much! 🙏🏽
If you care about your mental health or need help beyond virtual appointments with nurses that can’t prescribe you certain meds, don’t care what meds their mixing together and there’s no one to contact for help, then do not go here. I’ve been a “patient” for 7 years and the first person I had was a real psychiatrist who could actually evaluate my needs, and worked with me monthly on treatments until we got to a point where I was stable. She then left and told me I was being transferred to another psychiatrist for care. I was not. I was transferred to a nurse who was nice (btw they call him a dr and he is not), but every time I expressed the need to adjust or change meds bc they weren’t working he either tried to add more to the mix or just up my dosage. He’s a nice guy, but he shouldn’t be working with adhd or anxiety meds without oversight. I put in SEVERAL requests/calls/forms in the first year or so for someone else and was flat out ignored, never called or messaged back and so I gave up. Now all this time later he finally prescribed me meds with no instructions and I had a very bad episode. From there, I insisted he transfer me, and he did. Great. And now I have another nurse in the same system, different location but the SAME BUSINESS, who’s telling me they have a completely different procedure for prescribing adhd meds and I just have to deal with it, whether that means going without my medication or not. Because the psychiatrist she works for (who I’m never allowed to meet bc they don’t actually work for Lifestance, they have private practices with different scheduling and won’t take patients through Lifestance) thinks I should have to wait until they feel like dosing my meds. I guess this is all my problem. I’m at the edge and I’m just so over this and exhausted. God forbid you try to ask these people more info, they get saucy and defensive with you, really awesome stuff for a place that’s managing my mental health. Unless you already know what you want to take and don’t care when you can talk to someone or how they communicate, I would say run far away from this place. I’d love to report it but the state of Texas doesn’t care either. My mental health has never been worse and I’m just exhausted.
Great beginning with my therapist, Angie! She definitely listens, is helpful, cooperative, and makes you think. Looking forward to my next session.
I had a disappointing experience with Casey at the Midtown LifeStance office when I called to reschedule/cancel my appointment due to an emergency at my home. I was not calling to argue or debate the policy. I was simply calling to inform the office that, due to an emergency, I would not be available for my appointment. I understand that offices have cancellation and rescheduling policies, but emergencies are not always something a person can predict two business days in advance. My concern was the way the call was handled. Casey’s tone came across as dismissive and unhelpful. Instead of acknowledging the situation and explaining the policy in a professional way, she repeatedly focused on the policy without showing any empathy or concern. Something as simple as, “I understand you’re dealing with an emergency. This is our policy, but I’ll notate your account,” would have made a big difference. The interaction became frustrating because I did not feel heard or respected. Casey also ended the call while I was still trying to communicate, which I found very unprofessional. This was especially concerning to me because LifeStance is a mental health provider. Patients contacting a mental health office may already be dealing with stress, emergencies, trauma, anxiety, or other concerns. Front desk staff should be able to communicate calmly, respectfully, and with basic empathy. As a veteran and someone receiving mental health services, I believe it is important for staff in this environment to understand how their tone and communication can affect patients. I take responsibility for how I communicate, and I am actively working on maintaining self-control. That is also why I believe respectful communication from the office matters. A mental health office should not be a place where a patient feels dismissed or escalated during a routine scheduling call. I also want to be clear that I appreciated Ms. Nisha’s professionalism. By the time I spoke with her, I was already frustrated by how the situation had been handled, but she listened, remained respectful, and addressed my concerns appropriately. Because of Ms. Nisha, and because I do like my provider, I decided to continue care with LifeStance rather than reaching out to the VA about seeking services elsewhere. Moving forward, I have communicated that I would prefer not to have Casey handle my calls beyond basic appointment-related communication. This is simply to maintain professionalism and avoid any further issues. Overall, my concern is not the policy itself. My concern is the lack of empathy, poor tone, and ineffective communication I experienced from Casey. Policies can be explained respectfully. Patients can be informed of procedures without feeling talked down to or dismissed. I hope LifeStance addresses this so that future patients have a better experience. I give everyone respect but disrespect will not be tolerated. Provoking people in a mental health setting is not helpful and I wonder how many other patients experienced this behavior from Casey? In the medical field "Do no Harm" begins at the front desk. As a fmr Personnelist in the Air Force I take customer service seriously. Under Nesha's leadership however, I am confident Casey will grow in that area. We all have areas to grow including myself. However, nobody is bigger than the program including casey. Have a wonderful day. Kindest regards, Cincinnati's Koldest
DO NOT BOOK HERE. SERIOUSLY. I went in seeking help for ADHD and was given a lengthy questionnaire that took about 40 minutes to complete—causing me to miss my own appointment (which felt a bit ironic). When I rescheduled and came back, I was told I owed $120, even though I hadn’t actually seen the doctor. Then I was informed that I’d need to complete a new ADHD evaluation, costing $150, even though my insurance should have covered it. I decided to see another psychiatrist who didn’t require extra out-of-pocket exams. When I tried to cancel my appointment here, I was told I’d be charged $150 for the cancellation. Then they charge me $165 for the appointment for a “no show”, even though I was in the office and did try to attend but their paperwork took me too long because of the ADHD that I was trying to get help for! Overall, this place seems more focused on charging fees than providing care. I wouldn’t recommend booking here. Save yourself.
