I purchased a home that had just had a new AC unit installed by this company less than a year ago. Recently the AC has struggled and had intermittent issues. I explained that the issues were intermittent when I called to make an appointment. To their credit, they were prompt in reaching back out to me and getting a time set up for them to come out. He arrived at the time the appointment was set. When the tech arrived, the AC was on and "working". He said that since it wasn't currently having the issues that I had reported that he couldn't troubleshoot any further and left immediately. He was at my home for no longer than 3-5 minutes. I was confused as there should be plenty of things to check were right/set correctly. He did nothing. I then received a bill the next day for $175. I called and asked if there was any way to reconsider/renegotiate as it was less than 5 minutes of time and nothing was checked. Not even the coolant levels, which he said he did in the invoice, by the way. The receptionist or person who answered the phone was short and rude. Needless to say, I won't be calling them again. I only gave two stars because they're at least punctual and responsive when I called to schedule but now I know why. They were just excited they got to charge me the weekend rate to do nothing.

I can’t say enough good things about Starling Heating and Air. Our home is only a few years old but our unit has had costly issues since we moved in and the company that installed it was not making repairs that lasted or worked. I called Starling after a recommendation from a friend and he immediately found a simple promblem that was quickly remedied. To be thorough he came back the following week to make sure everything was running properly and fully inspect the system. He was able to find basic problems that our other company completely overlooked! Seriously if you are fed up with paying for the same HVAC repairs from mega companies over and over, call Starling Heating and Air. Their customer service and level of quality can’t be beat.

After doing business with them for 7 years and paying them to install several units in rentals and my home - and referring them to friends - they left me hanging with a unit they installed. The warrantee had just gone out. Water was leaking all over the floor. The tech came out and failed to fix the unit. The kicker was that they did not show for another scheduled appointment with Tim and the tech even after I confirmed the unit was open and they said they were on the way! ...this all took about a week. With water saturating carpet and me renting a carpet cleaner several times to suck up water. Finally, after loosing my patience, I called another HVAC company and had it fixed the same day. A simple clogged condensation pipe. These guys were awesome in the past but now it seems they have grown and only want the big money of the install. After that they might be fine as long as you are in Selma or Smithfield.

Technician came out on a Thursday and said he would need to come back out and bring more help. He came back out on Friday and said water was under the house so he would come back on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. Called the company on Tuesday and the technician said it was too much wiring work so he advised me to contact another company. What kind of customer service is that? Will never contact them again for anything so good luck. I called Pernell hvac to do the job.

As a General Contractor, I have been using Starling Heating & Air for all my HVAC and gas piping projects. I have found their service & performance to be outstanding. Over the years, I have used many hvac companies and none could match Starling in their knowlege and customer service.
