I just had a cleaning done by Pro Houston Maids and it was just okay. I liked their convenient booking system online so I decided to try them instead of the company we have used in the past. I specifically asked for a focus on the toilet and shower. Everything is super clean in my apartment except the shower which is the main thing I didn’t want to have to clean myself before having guests over this weekend. It’s actually the only reason I booked was to get the soap grime off and now I’m going to have to do it myself anyways. Very disappointed in that, because I can tell they started to clean it and then decided not to finish it. Had the shower been cleaned better, it would have been a 5 star experience. :(

Paid $530.25 for a Standard Cleaning of a 4BR/4BA home plus extras (3x inside fridge, 4x baseboards per room). What I got: • Cleaners arrived 1-2 hours late. Per the company's own SMS, work didn't begin until 3 PM (scheduled arrival was 1-2 PM) and ended at 7:40 PM. • Less than half the booked scope completed: roughly 1 bedroom + 2 bathrooms total per location, split across a house and detached garage apartment. Common areas of the primary home — kitchen, living, dining — were not cleaned at all. • I had asked the team to skip ONE specific room due to active construction in that room. They skipped the entire downstairs floor of the primary residence plus multiple rooms I never authorized them to skip. • Reaching the owner required multiple attempts. She would not answer the phone and would only respond via text. Do the math: two cleaners × 4 hours 40 minutes = roughly 9 person-hours of labor for $530.25 — about $57/hour per cleaner, well above market rate in Houston, for a job left half-finished. When I requested a 50% refund to reflect what was actually delivered, the company: • Refunded $125 (~24%) and called it "final." • Justified it by saying I "chose to proceed" knowing about the construction — when in fact I authorized one skipped room, not the bulk of the home. • Argued they cleaned "more square footage" by working two “homes” — despite the booking being for a single 4BR/4BA, no upcharge requested, and the online form not even offering a multi-property option. The 20% tip ($84) was auto-added at booking and charged for a job that was hours late, incomplete, and required this much back-and-forth to partially refund.
