I have never been to Greenville SC, and I stumbled across this place on my way to dinner. Live music, great food, outstanding service from McKayla. The manager stopped by to see how everything was, and I told him outstanding!!!
This place has a cool vibe enhanced by the live music, lighting, and great drinks and tapas. We really enjoyed the chicken and octopus skewers ❤️. The tequila jellies on the passion fruit cheesecake are really creative.
We visited Paloma for a early evening meal while downtown on a weekend. Greated and seated right away. Our waiter was on the spot explaining menu items and answered any questions we had. We started off with a Charcuterie board and a couple drinks. Both were enjoyable. Next was a paella. Paella De Mariscos specifically. It was delicious! The seafood was done just right, not overcooked. I personally would had like to have the rice cooked a bit more. Paella to me should be crunchy on the bottom. It was still very flavorful though! Finishing things off was Arroz Con Leche. I would describe this as a rice pudding. It was a nice finish to our meal. Very enjoyable experience and look forward to visiting again!
Ben was great. The charcuterie board was a great value. The bad: I work in the industry. Ben was the only staff member wearing a name tag so don’t know the other 2 employees but the other bartender had no interest in being at work and he wasn’t afraid to hide it. He greeted us with a “do you want menu’s or something?” Before ordering, I had a menu question and he hit me with a “no idea, couldn’t tell you”. No attempt to ask another staff member or investigate in the slightest. He stood with his arms crossed and had a whole aura of don’t bother me vibe. Ben was very professional and stepped in to take care of us. Lastly, I different patron sat outside. He came inside to order a beer. The bartender said he would pour the beer but close out with the server of that section. When the patron tried to close out the server refused and walked away from the patron shaking his head. The patron politely tried to get his attention several times while the staff member was flat out ignoring him. I never seen such bad service in my life. The patron and his wife were both flabbergasted, as was I a 3rd party observer. I left after we got our charcuterie board. I’ll spend my money elsewhere. Maybe I just caught it on an odd night.
The one thing that a service restaurant HAS to have is good service regardless of shift change! First I want to say that OSCAR the bartender was WONDERFUL & his recommendations on wine were GREAT. I ordered the octopus skewer but I did not realize it was fried...fried octopus becomes rubber. The sauce was very good and it would have been fantastic if grilled (of course my opinion). The small board was VERY good & offered a nice selection. The restaurant is beautiful and the wall-doors bring the outside in and it was a perfect day for that. Unfortunately shift change happened, I closed my check with Oscar as should be done, and was not looked at again by the replacing bartender...NOTHING!!! I would have had another glass of wine BUT rudeness is not something I tolerate or pay for 😠
