I wouldn’t go to LBJ hospital if I was dying. I would NOT recommend this hospital based on our experience. My husband went to the emergency room in excruciating pain and could barely walk. He was given pain medication, but no one investigated the underlying cause of his symptoms. The next day we learned that he has a large bulging disc in his spine that is pressing on a nerve, causing severe pain that radiates from his back down his leg. Had appropriate imaging been performed such as a CT scan or other imaging deemed necessary by the medical team the cause of his pain may have been identified instead of giving medications for pain the and discharging him. It’s a shame that patients have to travel so far just to receive the quality medical care they deserve. Everyone should have access to compassionate treatment close to home. Our experience left us feeling that his condition was not taken seriously. We expected a more thorough evaluation especially given the severity of his pain and inability to walk. I hope this hospital takes patient concerns more seriously and improves the way it evaluates patients presenting with severe pain. No family should have to leave feeling unheard while a serious condition goes undiagnosed.

Great experience.my mom had appointments for ultrasound and mammogram.the lady named Sharrell richard in the front desk provided milestone care and helped us to change our appointment to the same day that I could stay with my mom and help her with the translation. I supposed to work on the day that she had appointments but with the help of this lovely lady we could have it done earlier . Also I would love to appreciate the nice lady with short hair and mask on in the register (I forgot her name ).she treated my parents perfectly, brought smile on their face as they both were super worried and anxious about the tests . I appreciate everyone in the mammogram/ultrasound department from register to doctors, nurses , technicians .. they treated us well and made us feel safe. Thank you all ♥️

No complaints at all. I've had to stay here a lot lately and have received top notch care in the ER, 4th floor, everyone in the OC, and infusion center. There's too many fine folks to mention by name. They ALL make me feel cared for, even when I'm not at my best..... Almost forgot the folks in the cafeteria. I love the chicken pot pie and the hot coffee. The sandwiches are amazing

Took my mom to LBJ after a car accident and I’m just grateful to all the staff members who were attentive and caring with my mom. Your jobs are so important and just wanted to thank everyone who took care of my mom. I also noticed that there were patients who were by themselves and the nurses were attentive to them and caring. Sometimes not everyone has a loved one there for them and the staff there is all they got to care for them. You guys are heroes! Keep being kind and caring with all who come to LBJ for care, because it matters.

My mother was recently hospitalized in the oncology unit for chemotherapy treatment. What should have been a difficult but manageable experience became extremely concerning due to a serious patient safety issue. During her stay, medication intended for another patient with the same last name was brought into her room and administered. We later discovered that there were IV medications and fluids labeled for two different patients present at the same time. As a family, it was alarming to realize that a patient undergoing cancer treatment could be exposed to this type of error. What made the situation even more troubling was the response afterward. Rather than taking ownership of what happened and reassuring our family that the incident would be thoroughly investigated, the nurse involved, Astrid, appeared more focused on shifting responsibility to the pharmacy. There was little acknowledgment of the seriousness of the mistake or the fear and stress it caused our family. Because of the seriousness of this incident, I will be filing a formal complaint with the hospital and providing supporting documentation and photographs. Patients and families deserve confidence that proper identification and medication verification procedures are being followed at all times, especially in an oncology unit where patients are already medically vulnerable. Cancer patients are among the most vulnerable patients in a hospital. Medication verification and patient identification procedures exist for a reason. Families should not have to worry about whether the medication being administered belongs to the correct patient. While some members of the oncology team were compassionate and professional, this incident significantly affected our trust in the care being provided. I hope hospital leadership takes this matter seriously, conducts a thorough review, and implements any necessary changes to strengthen patient safety and accountability moving forward.
